LIGET BUDAPEST - MUSEUM OF ETHNOGRAPHY

Competition entry 2014, collaboration with SO Architecture  

    

The proposed design of the building is based on the idea of a ‘house’ that will reflect the set of values of the Hungarian Ethnography museum – one which unites diverse regions and civilizations under a common roof but at the same time promotes the diversity and unique tradition of each element within it; a building that draws its inspiration from vernacular architectural principals but translates them into a modern and dynamic structure; a gathering  of technology, design and sustainability that goes beyond urban and functional requirements towards an emblem for reconnecting an ultra-modern museum space with the local tradition and climate. The proposition is based on a symbiosis between these elements into a strong image that is immediately transmitted to the spectator through the form, materiality and articulation of the building.
